Open House Do’s and Don’ts
Do you remember the first Open House that you attended?
How was it? Were you able to make the most out of it? I’m sure you probably wished that there was someone who could tell you about the dos and don’ts in attending an open house so you can get the most out of your home search. So if you’re looking for someone like that, I’m here for you!
DO look for homes that meet your criteria. Even before going to the open house, make sure to know what you want in a home.
DO take notes. Bring a notepad or use your mobile phone to take notes about your experience. This will help you remember how you felt about the home while you were in it.
DON’T say negative comments out loud. Since the home is technically owned by someone else, there will probably be areas or decors in the home that you’ll find not suited to your taste. Respect the owner’s taste as some homes are not staged. Remind yourself that these are just decors and adding your own personal touches can definitely transform the look of the home and make it fit to your liking.
DON’T touch personal items. Don’t open drawers and cabinets as it is still their home, so respect their privacy.
